Just like in any metagame, trends will develop. I'd have to politely disagree with this rationale. Dozens of people dislike the OU tier because at its core, this is pretty much what you were doing every time you built a team, including the same couple of Pokemon with varying small differences. But this is obviously not the most prudent way to deal with him.Īnother way a Pokemon can be deemed too broken is having to auto include x Pokemon on every team you make JUST to deal with a specific threat. Some will argue that Talonflame can potentially check him if he manages to switch in on the right move, I.E a Genesect locked into Flamethrower. Genesect was gulity of this in the past, and no new Pokemon or new mechanics change the way he plays now.
One of the critieria a Pokemon needs to meet to be considered "overcentralizing" is always being able to switch in without worry, and then immediately threaten a KO upon coming in. Sadly, outside of him, Blissey, and Vest Goodra(awful anyway) there's not much else that can safely switch into Genesect.

He resists its stab, as well as being immune to Flamethrower and quad resisting Ice Beam, while taking laughable damage from T-Bolt even with a Download boost. Heatran is the be all end all check to Genesect. Between Download boosting his stats for free, one of the most diverse movepools in the game, and a very capable Choice Scarf User thanks to STAB U-Turn, Genesect still remains as potent a threat as ever. What a foolish misconception this was if anyone was truly serious. A lot of people at first made jokes about his base 99 speed and how this would be the deciding factor on if he'd get banned or not. Genesect didn't get to see much time in OU with the release of Gen 5, and in Gen 6, it will be no different. I'll start with the most obvious Uber candidate, Genesect. But, I know there are those of you who either haven't played enough to make an educated decision, or simply want to view the opinions of a seasoned player, or maybe both. There have been numerous close votes in past suspect testing, but I think it's pretty obvious on most of these Pokemon what the outcome will be. True, every vote certainly counts, but I don't feel that my input will make or break a decision this time around. Secondly, I have a strong conviction that of these suspects, the right moves will be made. While I have no doubt that I could construct a solid team to grind the ladder with, I'd much rather spend time playing the UU tier, which as of now, is much more enjoyable given the variety. For one, as I mentioned, the OU tier is pretty mundane and uneventful. I should note that at present, I personally don't intend to participate in the suspect testing this time around. In this article, I'm going to be going over each of these Pokemon in detail, and then cast my judgment on them respectively. We're looking at Genesect, Deoxys-S, and the Lucarionite aka Mega Lucario as the current suspects. I myself have qualified for suspect testing multiple times in the past, and I can say I'm happy to have done so in order to make the game balanced, and overall just more of an enjoyable experience. It's a great opportunity to be involved with the future of the metagame, and I encourage those who are confident in their abilities to give it a go. Then, you'll be able to cast a vote on the forums on the current suspects we ther you think they should be banned to the Uber tier or not. However, perhaps partially to spice things up while waiting for Pokemon Bank, Smogon recently decided to announce the first round of OU suspect testing! For those unaware on how the process works, you must attain a rating of 1700 minimum on the OU Suspect Tier AND OU Tier on Pokemon Showdown.
The current OU meta is a great step forward from the Gen 5 weather wars, but seeing Aegislash and Talonflame on basically every team becomes dull after a while.

Sure laddering is fun and all, but you don't really gain the real Pokemon experience playing a simulator all of the time, and this is coming from someone who takes pride in their success on the ladder! Most of my time with Pokemon has been dedicated to the recently revealed UU Beta tier(it's amazingly fun, article coming soon on that), as OU has become quite stale and uninteresting for me. With the delayed release of Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter, a lot of peoples interests have faded in the competitive Pokemon scene.
